Ph.D. students are not required to complete any coursework outside of continuous enrolment in the dissertation course (HES 649), unless mandated: 1) by the supervisor and/or supervisory committee, or 2) as a condition of admission.

All doctoral students are required to successfully advance to candidacy and complete a comprehensive examination within 36 months of their enrolment in the Ph.D. program. To advance to candidacy, students must pass comprehensive examinations, have their dissertation proposal approved by their supervisory committee, and complete any required coursework.
